Public safety technology provider Axon has announced a strategic partnership with Fūsus, provider of a proprietary cloud-based crime center, to combine their technologies in the hopes of creating a unified operational response for first responders.

The combined technologies will enable law enforcement and other first responders to aggregate live feeds from public and private cameras, including closed circuit television cameras, in addition to live video feeds from Axon Body 3, Axon Fleet 3, and Axon Air connected drones, according to Axon’s press release detailing the strategic partnership.

Through the partnership, the companies hope to expand first responders’ real-time visibility into the field and help them effectively share information and mobilize resources, according to the release. The products underpinning the partnership are Axon Respond and the Fūsus Real Time Crime Center in the Cloud (RTC3).

Axon Respond allows law enforcement supervisors to use live streaming, escalation alerts, and officer location mapping to amplify operational visibility in the field. The new partnership will integrate Fūsus’ systems into the Axon Respond viewer. According to Fūsus’ website, “The Fusus Real-Time Crime Center in the Cloud (RTC3) extracts and unifies live video, data, and sensor feeds from virtually any source.” In addition, video and officer location captured by Axon Body 3 and Fleet 3 cameras will be available in Fūsus' crime center, according to the release.

Fūsus’ technology also allows owners of private security systems to opt into providing public safety agencies with access to live-streaming video and evidence from public spaces such as shopping malls, office buildings, and educational institutions.

"Fūsus presents agencies with a unique opportunity to unify all of their public safety infrastructure like cameras, automatic license plate readers, automatic vehicle location, and other data sources on a single, technology agnostic platform," said Axon's general manager and senior vice president of real-time operations, Ran Mokady, in the company’s announcement.

In connection with the partnership, Axon closed a $21 million non-controlling minority investment in Fūsus. Fūsus has also committed to collaborating with Axon's independent AI Ethics Board, according to Axon’s release.
