Smart Building Tech Company Brivo Integrates with Gun Detection Tool ZeroEyes
By Catherine Dorrough
Cloud-based access control and smart building tech company Brivo has announced an integration with ZeroEyes, an AI-based gun detection solution. The integration combines the companies’ technologies to automatically lock building entryways remotely as soon as a firearm is detected onsite. According to Brivo’s media release announcing the partnership, the integration will also provide first responders with information about the shooter’s location and physical description, as well as which entryways have been locked.
When ZeroEyes’ algorithm detects a gun, it is verified by a team of military veterans who continuously monitor the system. Once the team has verified the gun’s presence, the software alerts customer administrators and first responders. Administrators can then lock entryways as needed.
While the recent massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, shocked the nation, leaving 19 children and two faculty members dead, more than 311,000 students have experienced gun violence at school since Columbine. In 2020, guns became the leading cause of death for American children and teens.
