CrossCountry Mortgage has launched a new benefit program aimed at alleviating the financial burdens faced by the families of first responders who lose their lives in the line of duty. This unique initiative provides a Line of Duty Death Benefit that cancels outstanding mortgage balances of up to $525,000 on home loans serviced by CrossCountry Mortgage for eligible federal, state, county, or municipal agency law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMTs.

The benefit covers incidents involving external force and violence during work-related activities, as well as heart attacks or strokes occurring under strenuous conditions. "At CCM, we believe in protecting those who protect us," says Craig Montgomery, Chief Production Officer at CrossCountry Mortgage. "When a loved one passes away, mortgage payments should be the last thing their families worry about. This benefit removes a financial strain, allowing families to focus on healing. It's our way of saying thank you."

Eligibility and Coverage Details:

  • Open to federal, state, county, or municipal agency first responders, including full-time, part-time, and volunteer law enforcement, fire & rescue, and EMS officers. Applicants must be under 70 years old at the time the loan closes.

  • First-lien mortgages where CrossCountry Mortgage retains servicing are eligible, including conventional or government loans like Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and USDA.

  • The benefit applies to primary residences, second homes, and investment properties for both purchase and refinance transactions.

Interested first responders can contact a CCM loan officer for more details and sign a Line of Duty Death Benefit debt waiver document at closing.

CrossCountry Mortgage serves communities across all 50 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico with over 700 branches and 7,000 employees. Recognized for its rapid growth and exceptional workplace culture, CCM offers a wide array of mortgage, refinance, and home equity programs.
